Summer: Hello 24!

This. is. 24. Grateful is an understatement. Lucky is inaccurate – blessed is more like it – HELLO 24!

Over the past two and half months I have had numerous conversations with friends about this coming of age milestone (not sure what else to call it haha). Instead of pouring out my thoughts in an essay, I’ve opted for a photo diary-style question-and-answer with some questions I found on the interweb. Hope you enjoy!

I have also included links so you can SHOP MY BIRTHDAY LOOK!

What do I like about my life?

I love that I have family and friends that support me (especially my growing family in Nigeria), financial independence, security, my own businesses, and a promising future!

What are some things I want to be different by next year?

Sis… I think we spend a lot of our time being Oliver Twists. No matter how much we have we are never fully satisfied. On one hand I want to buy a house, be in a relationship, travel more, grow my businesses. On the other hand, I am grateful to be able to make progress on my work today, go to bed and wake up to see tomorrow.

Who are the people who most add to my life?

TOO MANY! I normally don’t like naming people as I don’t want to forget anyone. In area of growth, particularly in the past 3 months, I would highlight my 3 pals Athena, Samira, and Arinze.

Athena for her unwavering fear of God and drive to make every black woman around her succeed. Y’all the kind of prayers this girl prays for me – she told me recently “God calls you daughter. He has unending resources and is ready to satisfy your every desire” What a wow! I DON’T deserve her periodt!

Samira for always challenging me to think from the less favourable point of view and for always being prepared to make noise with me even at 3am in the morning.

Arinze for fuelling the madness that is my creativity and for always calling me “Asa Nwa!” and telling me “Pepper dem!” and “They are not ready!” whenever I pitch an idea that only makes sense in my head.

Once again I appreciate you all and hope to celebrate more birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and milestones with each and everyone of you. Special shoutout to Kiden, Sharon, Chidera, Kara, Jasmine, Dubby, James, JM Adanna and Megan D. for constantly cheering me on through the failures and the wins this year.

Who are the people that I know are toxic, or create drama in my life?

Glad to say I live drama-free!

What is the most important habit or activity to add or subtract from day-to-day living?

To add: exercise, self-motivation and waking up early

To subtract: Negative self talk. In a recent conversation I heard “If you talked to your friends the way you talk to yourself, you would not have many friends”.

What is something I can do to fix the area of my life that’s most lagging?

Find what drives me to do what I do, focus on the strategy but keep my eyes on the goal and trust the process.

How can I remember my plan throughout the year?

Frequent discussions and check-ins with myself and friends.

Who is someone I can trust to help me get to where I want to be over the next year?

See aforementioned friends and family but most importantly GOD and MYSELF.

Shout out to Arinze for my birthday shoot! We definitely had more but I will save the second outfit for another post!

Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes, may 24 be the best year yet!
