It’s Never Too Late! 2021 Vision Board

Happy 2021 folks! 2020 left a bitter taste in our mouths, from losing loved ones and icons, protesting for basic human rights to changing the way we live during a global pandemic. Can you give yourself a round of applause for not running mad last year??

If you know me personally, you know I’m a futuristic thinker (read dreamer) – most of my conversations within the past months have centered around goals for 2021 and ‘what have you learned from 2020?’ I prefer to write down my goals but this year I had some time to create a visual of what I would like to achieve this upcoming year. I’ve posted mine with a break down of the elements below. Let’s continue the conversation in the comments!

The elephant in the room….

Every year I make a commitment to myself to become more consistent on my blog. I managed some very successful posts last year and *crosses fingers, prays fervently* I hope to achieve at least 5 just as successful posts. My goal is to maintain a steady (but small) stream of income from my blog.

The…other elephant…

On the very last day of 2020, yes Thursday, December 2020 itself, I moved into my first ever apartment alone! It was/is a surreal feeling that I feel like I have not yet fully embraced. After years of living with family, it was time to spread my wings and leave the nest. I started getting basic items for my apartment two months before moving in and my goal is to fully furnish my apartment to my taste, on a budget, throughout this year. More on this to come – but expect TONS of apartment and home decor content, as well as how I get by on my own as a 24-year old.

SUBSCRIBE to my channel…

This one has been a long time coming – this year I am FINALLY starting a YouTube channel. It’s one thing to support your friend’s or partner’s dream earnestly, why do we not show up for ourselves just as fiercely? I am blessed to have so many people on my team but if the star player is missing then I have no chance of winning. My goal is to create a consistent content schedule and reach 5000 subscribers by December 2021…wishful thinking? Needless to say – subscribe to my Youtube channel, LIKE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE!

Three degrees hotter…

I have finally reached the last few months of my current degree (it can ONLY be GOD!!). It has been an amazing experience but I am excited to be moving on – hopefully to degree #3! Stay tuned in to the blog to find out…

Turkey we reach!

If we get a proper 2021 summer it would be a true miracle. Having a second COVID birthday was not something I had hoped for, in fact I had planned a birthday getaway to Turkey for my 25th birthday. Why Turkey? Growing up my family moved quite a lot and I was exposed to cultures and countries that left me fascinated and wanting more. For most of my teenage and young adult life however, the traveller in me was suppressed by commitments to school and overshadowed by fear of the vulnerability I posed as a single black female tourist. Nevertheless each time I found myself in another city, province or country within the past seven years, I remembered the adventure and discovery I enjoyed as a little girl. Now as a grown woman (na so!), I hope to take full advantage of my resources, time and capabilities by travelling the world – starting with Asia (COVID are you hearing ??)

Health is wealth

This year I also hope to work on my overall health – physical, mental, spiritual, the works. It’s starting to sink in that living on my own truly means I’m the only one looking out for me. So bring on the yearly check-ups, counselling and living each day intentionally with God.

If you’ve made it this far, you’re a real one. A YouTuber I came across recently shared a story about her big move from the U.S. to Canada and how she overcame her fears and broke through the challenges preventing her from living her best life. One line in her story stood out to me the most – “I am successful at everything I do, and everything I touch turns to gold”. This year we are SPEAKING things into existence, no more thinking, it’s get up and go time baby!

See you in the next post!
