Spring: Off-Shoulder and Flares

Remember my statement about two posts ago regarding the “bipolarisms” that come with Canadian weather? As predicted, a lovely 15-20cm of snow has me thinking maybe it’s NOT yet time to put the scarves and coats away, and if you know me, you know I love my scarves and coats so no complaints there!

Today’s spring trend is all about flares and off-the-shoulder tops. I find that flare details, when added in moderation, give an elegant appearance. Many flared clothing pieces are loose and almost flirty so they are an easy and effortless way to dress up your outfit. Case in point would be this waterfall coat, a staple black piece that I love for nights out. The exaggerated lapel and belt are concepts that work well together and scream “boujee” even before you reveal your outfit.

I’m yet to meet a person who does not like culottes. They are probably the most freeing yet sophisticated of all pant styles. Your ideal pair would show just the right amount of leg to be suitable for a corporate setting. This particular pair has more material around the hem, giving it that flirty flare we’re going for today!

I came across this off-the-shoulder sweater at one of many sojourns to the ZARA sale earlier in January and was drawn by the colour. Would you believe I wore it as a cowl neck sweater forEVER until a friend asked what I thought I was feeling like wearing it that way?! In any case, it just meant I could wear it in either style to create another look. The non off-the-shoulder style still remains my favourite however as it creates a feminine rose-like flare around the neck. The traditional off-the-shoulder style is equally feminine and a great way to accentuate the neck and jawline or any accessories.
